Position Control

Student Affairs Position Control provides divisional oversight of workforce, position management, and compensation changes to ensure equity, consistency, financial prudence, and alignment with divisional priorities and campus policies.

The following salary actions and position changes must be reviewed by Position Control, including:

  • Salary actions:
    • Counter offer
    • Equity increase
    • Hiring bonus
    • New hire salary above midpoint
    • Retention Payment Program
    • Stipend
    • Stipend Extension
    • Reclassification increase
  • Recruitment & Appointments
    • Contract extension
    • Create a new position for hire
    • Reclassification of a filled position
    • Recruit to fill budgeted vacancy
    • Repurpose a vacant budgeted position
    • Waiver of recruitment

Submit a Position Control Request

 

Position Control Process

  1. Executive Review: Unit Executive reviews submission.
  2. Finance and HR Review: Student Affairs Finance and Workforce Management experts review submissions and provide analysis.
  3. Position Control Review: Position Control reviews the submission and seeks clarification (if needed) from the submitter.
  4. Additional Approvals (if necessary): Some actions require additional approvals from People & Culture experts. Submitters will be notified if the request is approved by SAPC but pending final approval by other partners.
  5. Final Decision: Submitter receives the final decision from SAPC. If the request is approved, submitter can create a Service Hub ticket to initiate the change.
